The story sticks to the script, of the original film: Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But, when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
I went and saw the show opening night and was blown away! The set is a massive wall of digital screens, which display an ever-changing array of backgrounds. I am always mesmerized by the digital age we live in and what they can do with it.
The storyline sticks to the movie so it is easy to follow if you are a die hard Mean Girls fan. It is a musical and you will LOVE the singing, it was on point! The characters draw you in with their charisma and charm. I was laughing through the entire play.
It is more sexually charged than the movie so I would personally say to leave the kiddos at home. My girlfriend and I had an absolute blast though!
In the end, the message was great, just like the movie… Girls should support one another, stick together and celebrate each others differences!
I was given tickets to review this play and share my thoughts with you. All opinions are my own. Thanks for reading!
