As I get older, it is even more important for me to stay healthy. I love working out at the gym with my friends, but this school year has been tricky with our schedules so I have been trying to find fun and new ways at home to workout.
Free Workouts You Can Do At Home
I have written before about Bikini Body Mommy. I like that it’s short workouts and made for any fitness level. I have also used You Tube before. Just type in “your favorite workout, ie. tabata, body pump” and it will pull up a lot of workouts. This can take time though because you may not like everything that comes us from your search. I will sometimes put on old workouts DVD’s or borrow some from friends.
Paid Workouts You Can Do From Home
A lot of my friends use Beachbody on Demand. This is an annual fee and you get access to all of their workout videos. There is a wide variety of workouts you can choose from.
Recently, I found Gixo. This is something unlike any of the other workouts I have tried at home in the past.
Gixo
Gixo is a virtual gym at your fingertips and you can work out anywhere, by turning your phone into a virtual gym. They have over 19 hours of live fitness classes per day (and hundreds of hours of on-demand classes as well!).
The experience is a hybrid of a live studio workout and a workout video, with the engagement and community of a trainer-led live class, combined with the convenience of a digital workout. Gixo customers get unlimited access to a variety of workouts including running, walking, strength training, treadmill, yoga, HIIT, stretching, and more. The live certified personal trainers hold each person accountable, and keep them motivated and engaged. Unlike pre-recorded experiences, they provide real-time feedback and track each person’s progress throughout the entire workout. Classes range in length from 11 minutes to 40 minutes.
Features
- Live fitness classes taught by a human coach in real time
- Personalized instruction and modifications for every fitness level
- Indoor and outdoor workouts that can be taken anywhere
- Up to 19 hours of live classes + 24/7 access On Demand
- 15, 25 and 40-minute classes to fit busy schedules
- Supportive and inclusive fitness community on Facebook
- Monthly challenges and events
So you can choose from a large amount of on demand classes which is similar to some other programs. What makes Gixo different from anything else I have tried is when you sign up for a live class. This is where it gets cool!
Choose the LIVE Class Option
You have the option of turning your camera on or off. Having the camera on allows the trainer to see you in real time! You can get instant feedback from your coach and ask for modifications. You can also communicate with the coach via audio or text messaging during class.
While many apps stream “live” classes, they do not provide the intimacy and personalization Gixo trainers provide through the technology in the app. Trainers can see each person in class through the in-phone camera, giving coaches the ability to see and correct each participant’s form during indoor workouts. Trainers also receive a live feed of stats — including speed, distance, and step turnover rate — to encourage runners and walkers in outdoor classes. And to keep workouts fun, everyone in the live workout can share photos, texts, and emojis in the in-class group chat.
So How Do You Get It?
Scroll through the app store or walk into a gym and you’ll see most are designed for people who already fit. But with Gixo, their trainers work with people at all stages of their fitness journey. Gixo is providing unparalleled access to certified personal trainers regardless of budget or geography.
Download the app and try it FREE for 7 days! Gixo provides access to its interactive small group workouts for a fraction of the cost of a boutique studio class or a 1:1 session with a personal trainer. Gixo annual memberships are only $179.99 ($14.99/month) for unlimited live and on-demand small group workouts with its certified personal trainers. Monthly memberships are also available $19.99 a month. Small group workouts include live running, walking, strength training, yoga, HIIT, cardio classes and more.
Once you download the app, you browse the LIVE workouts and simply choose the time that works best for you. Once you sign up for a class, the app will send you a notification 15 mins prior to your classes start time.
If you didn’t schedule a time, but hope on the app to find a workout and see a Live Class happening right then, you can jump right in.
My Thoughts
After using Gixo for a few weeks now, I really like it’s unique take on working out at home. When I work out at the gym, I have my workout buddies who hold me accountable and push me during the class. At home, you don’t usually have that… until now.
When I sign up for a class, they text me a reminder and if I don’t check in to that class, they text me after saying they missed me in class. It’s like I have my friend checking in on me. I also like that the trainer can see me during my workout, so I don’t quit half way through. I tend to do this at home because I get side tracked. I mean, who doesn’t want to change over their laundry when they hear the buzzer or get distracted by a phone call?! Not any more! If you have someone watching you, then you don’t give up!
The only thing I am hoping they add is workouts with weights. It is a great app because you can take it on the go and workout anywhere because no equipment is needed. However, I love working out with weights so I am hoping they add this at some point so I can work that into my rotation at home or at when I hit the gym.
Overall, I think you should give Gixo a try if you are looking for an awesome workout that you can do at home with your very own fitness coach motivating you every step of the way. I love that they offer you a free week so you can try it before you buy it. You have nothing to lose!
Gixo is so excited to help everyone reach their fitness goals, they have offered a giveaway to my readers! Head on over to my Facebook page to enter my giveaway for a FREE MONTH to one lucky reader!
