My niece had her final performance with the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati after taking their Musical Theatre Medley classes. You can read my sister’s blog post Part 1 and Part 2 which gives you a lot of information about what to expect from the class.
It’s showtime! The tiny actors have been practicing on the main stage and in the classroom for the last few months, all leading up to this past Saturday’s performance. All their hard work definitely paid off! Not only did they learn all their lines, but they also learned how to work with their props and do choreography!
They performed on the main stage at the TCT Red Bank Road location and even had lighting to accompany their performance. The cast went backstage to get their makeup done and costumes on, transforming them into orphans, a laundry man, and an old lady who hates children, it was adorable! As an audience member you felt like you were getting a tiny piece of an Annie performance made for the stage! The children performed twice, with two different actresses playing the role of Annie and both times they performed flawlessly.
It was wonderful to see each child shine in their own way, but yet work together so well. Skylar loves being on stage more than anything so it’s been a long road to get to that day, but once it was here, she could not have been more excited! By the time the children took their final bow I was almost in tears, I couldn’t believe what my daughter was able to do. It was so neat to see her transformation on the stage and though it may not be something she’ll want to do forever, nothing will change that moment for her or the experiences she had over the last few months.
She gained confidence, pushed herself to memorize songs and choreography when she thought she wouldn’t be able to, and showed her how to work as a group. I cannot wait to see what she surprises me with next, but I do know our Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati Adventures have not ended with this class. We are looking forward to what may come next. Until next time…
