I have been trying to steer myself towards more natural hair care products for years now. I use to go to the Aveda school to get my hair done before kids and loved their product line.

I had heard the buzz behind Monat for months and when a friend of mine decided to sell it, I told her that I had to try it! I have been using Monat hair care products for about 6 months now. I am always looking for more natural products to use and I love that MONAT says NO to many harmful chemicals:

NO Harmful Fragrances – We use fragrances with ingredients approved as safe by the Research Institute for the Fragrance Material (RIFM) and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). RIFM is the scientific authority for the safe use of fragrance materials.
NO Animal Testing- We do not test finished products and ingredients used for cosmetic purpose on animals.
NO Animal Origin Ingredients- We use vegan materials in our MONAT formulas.
I was very impressed after reading this list because that is a lot of the chemicals I try and stay away from as much as possible. I have used many, many more natural hair care products over the last several years and many of them have left me less than impressed. I do like Aveda and Beautycounter, but what sets MONAT apart is that it actually strips your hair of all the toxic buildup so it can start from scratch.
Can Your Hair Detox?
I have been using the Shampoo and Conditioner and some of their styling products. My hair went through a period of what the company calls detoxing. My scalp was itching and felt heavy. After about a week of that it started feeling better. I did feel like it was greasy and heavy for about 6 weeks. Jessica gave me some products to help during this time. I honestly did not want to like the products. I was annoyed that my hair felt worse, but I am so glad I stuck with it!
I also wanted to share a video that my friend made to better explain why the hair actually goes through a detox phase and why it is important to watch how you use your styling tools and get your hair colored during the first few months using MONAT.
Big Changes in my Hair
I have noticed some big differences in my hair. It is EXTREMELY soft and much less frizzy. I notice that when I just let it air dry, it dries almost straight and flat, which it never did before. My hair actually has a little curl to it when it air dries and after using Monat, it doesn’t really do that. I might have a little flip at the end, but overall it is not frizzy and dries pretty straight.
I feel like my hair is fuller and has more body. I didn’t take any before or after photos, so I can’t compare it to know for sure, but it definitely feels that way to me.
Styling Products
I have tried several of their styling products and by far I am LOVING the blowout cream the most. It has cut my dry time by at least half the time it normally takes to blow dry my hair. I was blown away the first time I used it! That has been my favorite thing I have used so far!
Cost
At first, I thought the cost was steep. I am use to paying more for more natural products, but I still wasn’t completely happy with the price tag. Over time, I realized they have SO many flash deals and the prices are cut drastically. Now that I have been using it for over 6 months, I can say that is when I make my purchases. It just ends up being so much cheaper and reasonable.
