Summer is almost here!!! May is insane and the more kids you have in school, the crazier it seems to be with all the parties, field trips and field days! Once the school doors close, the kids come home and then…. what??!! My kids aren’t big into summer camps because no one wants to be left out of the family fun so I came up with a summer bucket list a few summers ago and now it is a tradition and something we all enjoy putting together during those last few weeks of school. I have several of my favorite summer activities on the blog you can check out and my post on tips on surviving summer with the littles.
This will be my first summer not having a napper so rather than rush out of the house to do our stuff and get home, I feel like I can be much more relaxed and take our time this summer which will be so nice. I have also been very intentional over the years to try to not always schedule friends to come along with us every day of summer fun because I end up not spending that quality time with the kids because I am busy chatting with my friends. Don’t get me wrong, friends are very important to me and I love the company, but I think it is worth mentioning that you can get some awesome family bonding time in when every now and again you go it alone :)
You can check out my summer bucket list post I did from last week to see what we have done over the last several years and I will add to that post every year so you can bookmark it if you want to find some places that sound fun for your family :) You can see below what we hope to check out this summer!
- Sharon Woods (water area, hike and museum)
- The Ark Encounter
- Fire Museum
- Carew Tower Observation Deck and then off to Sawyer Point or Ride the Duck Tour
- Sunrock Farm
- Ceasars Creek/ Big Bone Lick State Park or Chilo Lock Park (hiking, museums and using our metal detector to find some treasures LOL)
- Airport Tour
- Wolf Creek Habitat
I would love to know what is on your summer bucket list this year!! Please share!
