I have been super blessed in my life to find friends from a young age that have stuck by me through thick and thin. I am a very extroverted person and love making new friends, but there is nothing quite like a lifelong friend- they know you at your best and your worst and love you anyway!
I have known Emily since FIRST GRADE!!! We have had lots of sleepovers, taken some fabulous trips and shared so many memories. Emily is one of the sweetest people I know. She has 4 boys of her own, works full-time, is an AMAZING cook and somehow manages to have a thriving cake business that she works on in her “spare time”. I secretly think she never sleeps!
We have always had a tradition at my house to make all of our birthday cakes at the house with each other. The boys would pick a theme and we would pinterest cakes and go from there. It was a super fun tradition. Now that I have 3 kids and life just gets busier each year, I have looked elsewhere for their “fancy cakes” for their birthday parties and we just make a plain jane cake at home that they can have on their actual birthday. You can check out some of our themed parties and cakes we have made over the years:
Jake and the Neverland Pirates: This was one of my favorite themes. Treasure Hunt and all!
Very Hungry Caterpillar This was super easy and so cute!
Cheerio
Lego Party Loved this cake. Looked just like giant legos.
Jungle Theme
Rainbow Themed Birthday Party This was probably my favorite cake I ever made. It ended up so cool!
All of those took time and preparation and most of them didn’t turn out great. I mean they were ok, but not even close to professional status. So as the kids have gotten bigger and wanted more elaborate cakes, Emily has come through for me the last 2 years. Cody wanted a Minecraft cake last year and a Terraria Cake this year. They were both AMAZING! She can pretty much make anything you want. Her focus is custom-made designs so send her your favorite pictures and she will put her creativity to work! Her prices are reasonable but is dependent upon what you are looking for and she will even deliver for an additional fee. Not only do her cakes look awesome, but they taste DELICIOUS! It is one of the most moist cakes I have ever had….NOMNOM!
Isn’t the detail just unreal?! I forgot to snap a picture of the inside, but it was white and chocolate squares so even the inside looked like a minecraft building!
Both years, the boys have been in awe of these cakes! Cody specifically wanted a square cake, but she makes any shape of cake you want. She also does cupcakes, cupcake cakes and a multitude of desserts for all occasions including, but not limited to, birthdays, weddings, showers, retirement, and holidays. She offers a variety of flavors and fillings and she does use buttercream frosting, no fondant work. Emily’s business is called Back in the Kitchen (her last name is Back). If you are local to the Cincinnati area, I would highly recommend Emily for all of your cake needs! You can find her at Back in the Kitchen on facebook where you can see her creations or message her with any questions. You can also call or text her directly at 513-503-6381. Seriously Emily ROCKS, you will love her!
