I have been wanting to write this post for the last few months and for one reason or another it has taken me until now to write it! I blogged awhile back about Cody’s big boy room which included a pretty cool loft bed you could build for your littles. That bed took my hubby many nights and weekends to complete so we opted to buy a bed for Grayson and jazz it up in a way that didn’t take forever!
Grayson and I looked at many different themed rooms on Pinterest and finally agreed on a Camping Themed Room. I found this adorable DIY Tent bed on Remodelaholic and I knew this would be the perfect bed for my Grayson. It also seemed easy enough that my hubby could get the job done in an afternoon. YAY!
We decided on a daybed with a pull out bed underneath (for brother sleepover nights) which we got at Ikea. For the tent part of the bed, Steve decided on PVC pipe to build the frame and got an “upgraded” painters cloth and all the other building goodies at Home Depot. You can see the DIY instructions on Remodelaholic. Steve did tweak things a bit, but overall you can get all the deets on how to build the perfect tent bed on there :) We had leftover faux log cabin siding from our house in Cumberland so we used that on one wall and finished it off with a gutter. I love that it makes the room feel like it is outside which is where you would go tent camping right?!
This is one of my favorite parts of the room! I had found some pics on Pinterest of real tree branch curtain rods. He had some nice wood at his work and sealed it, trimmed off the random pieces that didn’t work and figured out a way to fasten it to the wall. I absolutely LOVE this curtain rod! Great job hubby! I got the curtains from Ikea and they actually match pretty closely to the painters drop cloth that Steve used for his tent.
I bought the accessories from Amazon to give it a camping feel. The logs are stools, but can also be used for storage. They are small and I wish I would have bought two more, but they are so cute and add a nice touch to the room. The lantern allows him to light up his room a bit or put stars on the ceiling and the log nightlight is adorable! There are many camping accessories on Amazon so that is where I would recommend to start your search.
Lastly, I wanted to add Grayson’s name to the room to make it personal. I didn’t want to do the standard letters across the wall since I didn’t think it went well with the theme. I found these AMAZING prints on Etsy from Wildbriar Design. This was exactly what I was looking for and fits perfectly in his room! I actually had them printed a bit larger than 8×10 to fill the wall space I had. You could frame these or turn them into canvas prints! Rather than spending a ton of money of getting 3 canvas prints, I did them myself and they turned out pretty darn cool if you ask me :) I will share how I did this next week so stay tuned!
The last thing I am wanting to add is a tree book shelf. There are SO many to choose from and I just can’t decide which one I want so we are holding off until mama makes up her mind! Overall, I love how the room turned out and Grayson LOVES it too! Him and Cody have fun playing camping in his room.

The link to the instructions for the bed on Remodelaholic doesn't seem to be working. Can you point us to where to find it?
I changed the link! You have to scroll down a bit on the page to get to the instructions :) http://www.remodelaholic.com/camping-tent-bed-kids-woodland-bedroom/

That`s a very fascinating themed bedroom, can I do that in master bedrooms ?!
thanks for sharing such high quality work with us…
We all are making our bedroom looks different, in that case we can follow some popular theme to collect home decorative ideas and elements. your DIY tent bed is most likely comfortable for the children. it is easy to use and easy to decorate. if we use LED ceiling lamps with this than it must be focus people attraction, i swear.
wow very nice, thanks for sharing.
