I just recently found out about the NEW Kroger Pick Up Service they just recently launched at the Kroger in Liberty Township. This happens to be my “home” store so I was SUPER excited to try this out and share my experience with you! I posted a few times on Facebook and can see that all you tired, busy mamas share in my excitement as well! Woohoo!
Here is what I know so far:
- I placed my first Kroger pick up order yesterday and it was pretty easy. They go off your Kroger Plus card and already have your “favorites” (things you buy most often loaded online) and your last 4-5 grocery trip items under “recent” so I was able to easily click on those items that I buy most often. Other items I needed I entered in the search bar and it pulled up all my options. You click on what you need and add to the cart. They gave me several pick up times for tomorrow that I could choose from. I was told by an employee that typically, if you place an order before midnight you should be able to pick up the next morning, unless all of the times are already taken. They have gotten feedback that people are wanting it same day service, which they can’t accommodate at this point, but are working towards. The main turn around time should be 12 hours, but can take up to 24 hours.
- Some items have the ingredient lists listed and they are working on getting ingredients labels posted for every item.
- Once you place an order, you can’t edit it online-YET. This will be an option in the future. For now, you can call the store and let them know the items you need added to your pick up order.
- While picking each item online, you can write special instructions. For example, I wrote “organic” on a few of the produce items that I could not find online listed as organic.
- You can not add pharmacy prescriptions to your order yet, but they are working towards this.
- When you get there, you pull up by the Pharmacy (following the signs for online pickup) and press a button. An employee will come on and ask if you have any paper coupons. If you have paper coupons, they will come out and get them from you and scan them inside before ringing you out. You can add your digital coupons on your Kroger Plus card like you usually do and this will come off as usual. I could see my savings on my receipt.
- They will also go over any items they were out of at that time to see if you want to substitute anything. They were out of organic grapes and organic red bell peppers so they asked me if I wanted conventional. Since I said no, they took off those items so I was not charged for what I did not get. Hope that makes sense!
- It took her about 5 minutes total to bring my groceries to my car and then she showed me my printout of what I ordered and receipt.
- You have to pay with a card, no cash accepted. They swipe it right there on the iPad and you sign there as well.
- Then she loaded everything into my car. They separate the frozen items/ cold items in different bags so you know when you get home.
- They charge $4.95 per trip, however, they do waive the first 3 trips so you can try it out for yourself! **I also read that they may offer subscriptions for $16.95 for 30 days or $99.95 for one year of unlimited online shopping, BUT I can’t confirm this so I will update this post as I get more information.**
- Also, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about someone else picking out my produce for me, but everything they picked up looked great! She told me you can call the store or the 1-800 number they email you when you place an order if you are not satisfied with something you received.
I never had to get out of the car and I kept my kids strapped in their car seats. We all stayed nice and warm and the only finger I lifted was to pay! I cannot tell you how EXCITED I am that I didn’t have to shop in the crazy holiday “traffic” or get my big prego behind and kids out of the car to shop!
The Liberty Location is the first location to launch this. They are going to start slowly adding this to other Kroger stores starting in the New Year. I would contact your local branch for more information. You can check out how the online shopping looks by following this link.
