I feel like Thanksgiving came and went and then the very next day neighbors are getting out their lights, websites are posting the Holiday Happenings and I was thinking really, it is DECEMBER already?!!!! Wow! Where does the time go? So in the spirit of all things December we kicked off December with our Elf, Bo, arriving, picking out our Christmas tree, getting out all of our décor and watching the Christmas tree turning on at Deerfield. Yes, mama was exhausted after all that!!
We have been trying out different tree farms over the last few years which has been fun and I asked you on Facebook what your favs were and I really wanted to venture out to those over an hour away, but we ended up going back to a family favorite just to save some time :) You can read all about my Timberwood Tree Farm post here. Lots of freebies and a small family owned farm which is great!
We are always on the hunt for the biggest and most beautiful tree, but this farm doesn’t have a huge selection and so they tagged their little ones with these adorable sayings which made me pick an underdog this year :)
We had fun at the Deerfield Christmas Tree lighting party! Santa drove in on a fire truck, some of the kids got to turn on the tree, they had carriage rides, music, games and a petting zoo for the kids. It was super cute and FREE! :)
So this began our Christmas fun. I started my December bucket list and since there is so much to do we will just pick what we can and leave the rest for next year!! Here are the things I found that I think my fam will enjoy or things we have done in years past that we loved:
- Christmas in Mason
- Lebanon Carriage Festival
- Outdoor World Christmas for kids
- Create your own magical polar express!
- Neiderman Christmas Walk
- Christmas Ranch
- Sharon Woods and Santaland
- Downtown fun: they have free ice skating, santa repelling, free horse drawn carriage rides and all the beautiful lights!
- Prasco Park: although the free photos with Santa reservations are full, you can still get the ice-skating for free! This will be the first year we are doing this so I will let you know if the reservations are worth it!
- There are also some great holiday plays going on this month: downtown, Mason HS and Kings HS!
I am sure that is a short list, but let me know if I have left out one of your family favorites!!
