I have been dabbling in essential oils for some time now, but haven’t had great resources to study and learn more. I recently started using doTerra Essential oils and I cannot say enough about the education they provide to you from day one. I have loved my Young Living oils in the past, but never felt like I was able to utilize them fully because the resources just weren’t there. I have been really impressed with this company and every day I learn something new on their website. I have been reading and watching videos to my hearts content and haven’t even scratched the surface! I hope to teach you what I learn along the way and so far I am AMAZED at the true power of Essential Oils. I always knew that they worked, but until you start learning the chemistry behind the oils, you don’t realize the true power they hold.
Some basic ways I have been using oils:
Peppermint: tummy aches, nausea, fever, cough.
Lavender: cuts and scrapes, calming, helps aid in sleeping.
Eucalyptus: run on chest when you have a cold (instead of vicks rub), add a few drops to a steam shower to open up nasal passages and lungs when congested.
Lemon: a natural disinfectant so it is great to add to your water to cleanse the body and clean countertops.
I am learning that there are SO many uses to these oils and the benefits to so many others. Can’t wait to share it with you! My first test was for dreaded Athlete’s Foot. I think I got it from my hubby months ago and he had some topical synthetic medicine he had gotten from the doctor. I used it for weeks and nothing happened! After purchasing my doTerra Physicians Kit, I immediately looked up how to treat Athletes foot. There are several different methods so I chose lavender and Melaleuca Oil.
Melaleuca oil is an antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, expectorant, fungicide, insecticide, and stimulant- yes there are SO many uses for this powerhouse oil! A few ways you can use it:
- Gargle it for a sore throat
- Apply to affected cuts, blisters, boils
- Dab it on your breakouts
- Use it to fight viruses like cold, flu, measles, chicken pox and warts
- Use it to treat fungal infections like athlete’s foot :)
- You can add it to your shampoo to combat dandruff
- Dilute it in a spray bottle with water and apply to hands for a DIY hand sanitizer
- You can dilute it and apply to breasts to treat mastitis
- Use it to clean and disinfect surfaces
Lavender Oil is an analgesic anticoagulant, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, antifungal, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, sedative and regenerative. A few ways you can use it:
- Emotional for depression, anxiety and stress (um can I pour this all over me?!!)
- Helps induce sleep
- Apply to affected area for aches and pains
- Used topically to treat head lice
- Can reduce blood pressure if ingested. With this being said you HAVE to own Certified Therapeutic Grade Essential oils for internal consumption.
- Use it for any skin irritations or wounds. ie. burns, bruises, cuts, sunburns, insect bites, rash, diaper rash, psoriasis
- You can use it as an antihistamine for seasonal allergies or hay fever.
- Add it to your shampoo to help with dandruff
As you can see there are MANY uses with these two oils and what is SO great is that all the oils are this way, multiple benefits from one bottle :) I have been rubbing the two oils together on my foot twice a day for 5 days and it is almost completely gone! I cannot believe how quickly it has worked and completely natural!! NO JUNK is going into my skin and traveling through my bloodstream. Once it is gone, I am going to make an Athlete’s Foot powder for my shoes to make sure it doesn’t return! I have had my kit for just over a week and I have been using them on everyone and have some great stories to tell! I don’t want to over load you so that is all for now!
I would love to hear about ways you use essential oils and how they have benefited your life. If you are looking to get into using oils and want more info, please email me: jennie@motherhoodsupport.com.
