We are SO lucky to have such amazing hospitals here in the Greater Cincinnati area and Children’s Hospital is one of the BEST!!! I LOVE that we have a Children’s 5 minutes from my house so no matter what the time of day is I can get there quick! It is one less thing I have to worry about… cause you know mama worries about EVERYTHING! I have some GREAT news for you West Siders…. Children’s is now bringing a hospital to the neighborhood– Woot Woot!
Kim and I, along with many other local bloggers, got the chance to tour the almost completed hospital on Tuesday night. We got a behind the scenes tour of the entire hospital and we were able to chat with the amazing Children’s staff over some yummy dinner and drinks. We even had some fun taking cooky pics with their photo props!! Be the first in the area to see some pics of the facility that I snapped on the tour!!
This is a beautiful mural that is painted on the outside of the doors and walls of the audiology testing rooms. I am sure this makes the kids a little less nervous as they enter the testing area.
We all had SO much fun with these!! You may not be able to tell completely from the pic, but they have these awesome lava tiles all throughout the hospital. The kids can hop on these mufti-colored gel circles and watch the gel move around under their feet!
This is a sports room they are using for Physical Therapy. They used surrounding school emblems as artwork to decorate the room! They also have a cool room with a huge playhouse barn that the kids can climb through that also helps with physical therapy. They even have a zip line for the kids to use!! We only saw a pic of this, but I am sure the real thing will be AMAZING!!
A few facts I learned on the tour:
- Grand Opening: April 29th!!
- Urgent Care hours are offered Monday-Sunday. 6-11 (M-F), 12-7 (Sat), 11-7 (Sun)
- They were very intentional with ALL the elements that went into the building. From everything from fun artwork for the kids to look at, decor on the floor to make it easy for the families to find their way and greeters on every floor to make you feel confident you are in the right place. They even have kiosks on the first floor to make your check-in quick and easy. They designed the building around things that the West Side is known for such as hard work and a close-knit community.
- One thing I LOVED about the building (and my hats off to Turner Construction for this) is the entire front side of the building is made of windows to let as much sunshine in as possible… and we all know that sunshine just makes ya happy :)
If you want to check out the facility before opening day, April 29th, head over there Saturday, April 20th from 11-2 for their open house. They are going to have a ton of FREE stuff for the kids to do and goodies for the parents too!!

Growing up over there, it’s so nice to see Children’s going in on the Westside!! That is actually a bit closer than the Liberty location for us now. All of my docs are next door in the new Christ Hospital building, so I’ve been watching Children’s being built & getting excited for such a great hospital to open!!!
That is perfect!!! The facility is awesome!!Sent from my iPad
That’s exciting you have a new children’s hospital! Children and their parents can feel safer knowing there is a new hospital closer by!
