By now, most of you have heard that the Cincinnati area Kroger stores have replaced their double coupons with new everyday lower prices. I met with Kroger’s marketing department for the Cincy region last Thursday, along with other local bloggers and heard first hand about their new changes. I’m not a huge coupon-er so I’m happy about the change – it’s less coupons I have to clip and more everyday lower prices made for me in store. Kroger is investing multi-millions of dollars in their new price campaign and that means about 3,500 items will have a lower price starting Feb 4th! Yippee!
This new pricing program will be 3x the cost for Kroger than what they spend on doubling coupons and don’t worry – they will be still accepting manufacturer, digital and targeted mailer coupons as usual. The majority of the lower prices will be found in the grocery, produce, organics, natural foods and general merchandise departments, which I am thrilled about since it’s not always easy to find coupons on organic items I usually buy!
So tell me, will this change effect where you shop? For me, Kroger will still be my #1 grocery store not only for their lower prices on organics but also for their customer service. Any time I’m there with the kids there are always very helpful employees who help me to my car and load it for me – they are awesome and I would never find that at Wal-Mart. As for Meijer, they don’t have enough stores nearby for me to even consider shopping there.
