I recently went to a party to check out the Ava Anderson products with rep Shauna. I have to say that I am SO impressed! This company was started a little under two years ago by a 15 year girl who wanted to get all the JUNK personal care products out of her house. She started doing research on product lines and realized she wanted to start her own line of non-toxic products. How cool right?! At 15 I was hanging out at the mall!

- Babies are being born with over 280 chemicals in their cord blood (Red Cross, 2004).
- Manufacturers can legally hide 600+ chemicals in the word FRAGRANCE without listing them on the ingredient label

I have been on a more natural journey for years now and you really do have to take baby steps and I have made small changes here and there over the years. One goal I currently have is getting products that rank a 2 or lower on the Cosmetic Database. Everyone’s comfort level is different, but if you are looking to decrease chemicals out of your personal care products, the Cosmetic Database, is a great resource and a great place to start. Ava Anderson is a newer line so they don’t have a slew of products, but they do rank a 0-1 on the database (super low!) and all their ingredients are listed on their website.
I haven’t personally tried any of the products, other than a few at the party, so I can’t speak directly about my feelings on the products, but I can say I was impressed with what I did try at the party and VERY pleased with the company’s mission and goal. I highly recommend checking them out and supporting this teenage girl in her mission to bring non-toxic products to the world :)
