Let me just tell you…. I cannot believe that it has been 5 years since the hubs and I got married. What is even longer is that we have known each other and been together from almost 15 years- high school sweethearts :) Although I totally love my husband (most of the time!) my memory of our wedding date has not served me so well. Life has just been non stop for us and both of us completely forgot about it! Thank goodness for my sister-in -law who text me “Happy Anniversary” a day early which reminded me!! AHHHH!!!
So, although we both forgot, we wanted to do something so we decided to explore some of the restaurants around our new hometown :) We ended up going to a fabulous Japanese Bistro called SOHO. You have the option of sitting in the dining area or the Hibachi Grill. We decided to do something different and sat at the Hibachi Grill area. Cody loved it and so did we. All the food was amazing and since we went a little early we got the entire dining table to ourselves!! It was fun to change things up a bit! I remember as a kid my mom would take us to Benihana‘s every year and I thought it was one of the coolest things we did all year (it’s the little things)!
Next, we went to The Cone for dessert (thanks to mama Tiff for the tip). WOW! This was AWESOME! I had been craving soft serve ice cream for awhile and had heard this place was great so I knew it would be the perfect place! And it really was! They have been voted best family friendly restaurant, best soft serve in Cincinnati and one of the top 10 quirkiest places to visit in the US! I think I was more excited than Cody when we pulled up because the building itself is a huge ice cream cone! I could not wait to get some yummy soft serve :) It is a wonderful place to take the family if you are local to Cincy because they have endless amounts of ice cream flavors, blizzards, etc. and then they have quarter rides for the kids and arcade games inside for the older ones. I was ecstatic to find such a fun, summer time place to visit so close to home!
Overall, our anniversary was great! The three of us got to spend some time together and it really was a family outing to write down in the memory book! Isn’t it always the things that are unplanned that end up being the most fun?!
If you are looking for some new places to explore I definitely recommend Soho and The Cone! You can also visit our Family Fun page for other great ideas! What fun things do you plan for your anniversary? Night out on the town alone, family time, or a quiet night at home??
