I talked about how we had a little party for Cody the weekend of his birthday, but I wanted to do something special on the day of so I splurged and took him to the Newport Aquarium! We have never been (probably because I am so cheap!), but I figure now was a good time to go! We had an absolute blast.
Cody loved looking at all the aquatic life and I think I enjoyed it as much as he did! What was so great about it, in my opinion, is that there is really not a ton of trouble for the kids to get in and not a whole lot of work for you. I let Cody walk through the exhibits and everything is behind the glass so he can be entertained and I don’t have to oversee things, just enjoy the scenery myself.
Throughout the aquarium, they have some hands on activities for the kids to do such as the kids area for climbing, feeding the birds and petting the sharks! We loved it so much we ended up buying a pass! If you think you would be bored going over the course of the year you are wrong! Check out their list of daily activities, plus they offer special events throughout the year!
If you are interested in going you can save some money:
- If your child is under 2 they get in FREE!
- Buy a season pass! It costs about the same as going twice (for an adult). If your child is under two then they are grandfathered in on your pass.
- You get $2 off if you purchase your tickets at Krogers
- Right now they are offering their Winter Family Days where 2 kids get in FREE with a purchase of an adult admission! It is going on now through Feb 28th! (restrictions apply)
Overall, we loved it and had a great time. If you have never been, it is WORTH the money. You won’t be disappointed!
