Totter’s Otterville

We were recently invited to visit Totter’s Otterville, located in Covington, Ky. Totter’s Otterville is “an educational entertainment center geared towards children ages 10 and under. Otterville is a secure environment with fascinating “play to learn” activities that will provide hours of fun for the entire family.” We can definitely attest to this statement! WOW! This place is fantastic and they have just about ANYTHING a child could dream of! Their different rooms/ activities include:

Inside

• Tumbling Room with mats and balls
• Arts & Crafts Room with already laid out crafts on the table for the kids. This room is for kids ages 3 & up.
• Huge indoor play ground with a ball pit. (what is really cool about this is that they have a machine that takes the balls from the ball pit, sanitizes them and then places them back in the pit… every germaphobe’s dream! I must say, I was so HAPPY when I saw this!!)
• Grocery Store with empty food boxes, grocery carts, play fruit and veggies
• Pizza Shop with dishes, play ovens, microwaves etc.
• Room made to look like a house: microwave, oven, washing machines, tables, dishes etc.
• Dress Up room with costumes, clothes, purses, hats etc.
• Make-up Area
• Mail Room
• Machine Room
• Ballet Room
• Blocks Room
• Trains Room
• Animal/ Vet themed room (with REAL animals!)
• Water Play Area
• Book/ Show Room

Outside

• Fishing Pond with pretend fish and fishing poles (the boys LOVED this, but we had to watch them because they were trying to throw the poles in the pond!)
• Sand play area with dump trucks, sand toys
• Maze
• Several outdoor play grounds
• Train!!! (the boys wanted to ride this over and over again!)
• Water area (this was closed when we were there because it was a little chilly)
• A life size fire truck that you can squirt water at with fireman hoses!

I am sure we missed a few, but you get the idea! You can check out their map which lists all the rooms with a detailed description. They also offer special programs so be sure to check out their calendar of events before you schedule your trip!  Their prices are extremely reasonable for all that you get and adults are FREE! Check out their prices and hours here. Another thing we LOVED about Otterville is the safety factor. They put matching bracelets on you and your child which they don’t take off until you are leaving. They do offer food and drinks and they do not serve any fried foods, nor do they cook with peanut oil. For the safety of their guests who may have allergies, they do not allow ANY outside food and/or drinks to be brought into the facility. This is the only negative thing we can say about Otterville. Although we understand why they have this rule, we also think that they need to be a little flexible for people who have their children on specific diets (ie. gluten fr

ee, vegan, organic etc.). We would recommend giving them a call before you go if this pertains to you.

You can also celebrate a birthday party at Otterville! “Each private party room includes a host who organizes the festivities to guarantee birthday guest and their parents can sit back and enjoy the fun. Party options include pizza, drinks, goodie bags, ice cream, favors, and even invitations!” You can see the party package information here.  Sounds like fun to me :)
