What a whirl wind the last month has been! We added our third baby boy to our family and I could not be any happier! I prayed for a long time about having a third baby and wasn’t sure if it was in the cards for us. We were blessed with this pregnancy after some bouts of infertility and miscarriages, so I knew God had a plan for this little guy.
This pregnancy was LOOONG and hard, mama is not gonna lie. I tried not to let it slow me down because I have two other energetic boys, but it was rough. I was sick for a long time with this pregnancy and then had a terrible sinus infection, then the flu and the list goes on! Needless to say, I was super grateful to be blessed with another baby, but I was even more grateful for him to arrive!
After a few weeks of braxton hicks and stalled contractions, he finally came into this world on January 20th, 2015 at 3:28 am. There is nothing like bringing your baby into this world and no matter how many kids you have, birthing your baby is nothing short of a miracle. In those first few moments of holding him on my chest, I may have even fluttered the words… “maybe we will have a fourth”… :)
I just love those first few hours of holding your newborn, skin to skin, discovering all their little crevices and having them nurse and cuddle you. It truly is bliss! I had some complications postpartum, but am happy to announce that everyone is doing well and we are all getting into a great groove at home. Things are busier with a third for sure, but adding Bennett to our family really hasn’t been that difficult. He sleeps a lot and my older boys just adore him. Cody especially has been an amazing big brother, helping me out a ton! He always tells me how much he loves having his new baby :) Melts my heart!!! The hardest part in the whole transition is that it is winter and we are in a terrible cold and flu season so I have quarantined us a bit so I am feeling a bit isolated. I know I am doing the best thing for Bennett because I am terrified of him getting sick, but I am looking forward to the sunshine and warmth! The nice part about being a seasoned mama is that you know this too shall pass and you won’t be cooped up in the house forever. I am just trying to enjoy every moment of this little guy because I know this will be our last time to have a newborn in the house… which is so sad to say, but I am excited to be moving on to our next chapter :)
We all finally agreed on the name Bennett (because when you have older kids, they have a say in the name too!) and we chose James after my step dad who has been an amazing dad to me over the years. He is such a sweet little thing and I am so happy to be a family of 5. I feel totally complete and that is a wonderful feeling!
I had the privilege of working with Jennifer from Violet Bow Photography again. She did an amazing job capturing our pregnancy photos and announcement so I knew I had to have her back to snap some Newborn pics. Jennifer is super talented and so great with the kids. She makes the entire family feel comfortable which is a gift, in my opinion. Of course Bennet wasn’t very sleepy while she was here (go figure!), but she managed to get some great shots anyway! Jennifer will be offering a free session giveaway and mini sessions this spring so be sure to like her Facebook page to get entered and for more information.
