We have been having a lot of fun this year for Christmas. As kids get older, they get more into everything and it makes it SO much fun!!
We went to the Horse Parade in downtown Lebanon. I would highly recommend this for next year. Cody and Luke loved watching the horses and carriages in the parade. They had free food (chili, hot dogs, soda, hot chocolate), but you could make a donation to the salvation army which I thought was nice. Afterwards, you can swing by Manna Cupcakes… they are DIVINE!!
Then we went to pick out our Christmas tree. A few years ago we started going to a tree farm and picking out our tree. This has become a tradition for us now. The farm we normally go to is a good 45 minutes from our new house so I looked up places closer to us on this awesome website, Pick Your Own Christmas Tree! We ended up going to Timberwind Tree Farm and it was great. There wasn’t as much of a selection than the big farm we usually go to, but what I loved about it is that it’s just a small family owned tree farm. The family’s house is right there, you park in their lot and go pick out your tree. The trees were also about half the price. They offer FREE hay rides, FREE hot chocolate and a FREE picture that they take of your family with your tree (they print it there for you). They also donated $5 of every tree sold that weekend to a mission! Steve and I both said that although they didn’t have as much of a selection, we would go back there next year because we are all in support of the small family business!
Our next venture was to go see Santa. I was excited to get both the boys pics with Santa and although it is RIDICULOUSLY expensive to get 1 PICTURE, I went ahead and did it because…. well we do it every year so they kind of gotcha right?! That was a ton of fun because Cody is starting to really understand Christmas and what the magic of Santa is all about!!
We hope to also see the Festival of Lights and another light display Kim loves. I LOVE the holidays! Although it is crazy busy, it is a lot of fun!
What have you been up to or have planned for the holidays??
