There seems to be a day for everything and I had NO idea there was even a Grandparents Day! Not only am I terrible with remembering dates for birthdays (I mean, hello, I totally let one of Steve’s birthdays come and go without even saying anything to him! I know I suck!) and special occasions, but now I have to remember Grandparents day too…. ugh!
Although it is another thing to add to the list, I have to say it is an important one and a day in which I want to make sure I celebrate every year (it was yesterday BTW). I believe extended family is so important in children’s lives and grandparents have their own special place in the lives of babes. Cody is actually named after one of my grandpa’s who holds a very special and dear place in my heart. My family and friends would probably say I am pretty anal and crazy when it comes to running the house and raising my kids, so I think it is great for the kids to have that quality time with the grandparents who can let the kids get out of following the rules and spoil them the way only grandparents can!!
Cody is really into crafts so we went to Michaels this weekend and went crazy picking out a bunch of stuff to do when we are at the house. I love that they have their clearance bins outside and the dollar bins inside. You can really get a good bang for your buck there! AND if you forget your coupon they do allow you to search for coupons on your phone and they will honor that…. saved me $8 this weekend!! We took what we picked out and Cody made a cute little Grandparent’s Day gift. He had a blast being creative and he was able to say thanks to the grandparents in his life!
They LOVED the gift and it just goes to show that it doesn’t take a lot of money to give someone a gift that makes them smile :) Have any ideas on low cost DIY gifts that the kiddos can do?? Michaels has a special place on their website just for kids that have some great ideas and info called The Knack! You really should check it out!
